Highline Trail
September 15, 2008
Canmore’s new mountain bike trail is nearly complete. For years there have been access issues here and trails have shut down because of it - so this is a big deal and definitely a step in the right direction for the riding here in Canmore. Upon completion in June 2009, the trail will entail 7km of the some of the best singletrack in the valley with various descent options along that distance. The trail weaves its way along the lower flanks of Ha Ling and Grassi Peak, across avalanche drainages, creek beds and combined with lush northfacing forest makes for an instant classic. With half of the trail already completed and ridable, definitely check it out. The leaves are just starting to change here and it’s that perfect time of year to rip some sweet singletrack….

Mt Uto, Roger’s Pass
August 21, 2008
Roger’s Pass is an incredible place. My time spent there has been mainly in the winter and for good reason - it has some of the best snow and terrain for ski touring I’ve ever experienced period. I spent a day there with my buddy John Freeman and we went up Mt Uto - a beautiful ridge climb on classic quartzite. A sweet day in the Selkirks under bomber blue skies.

New Images
July 27, 2008
Summer has been slow to arrive this year. Rain, thunder, hail, lightning, more rain, and a little bit of sun. Kind of feels like summer is just starting with the recent nice weather we’ve been getting here in the Canadian Rockies. To help keep the stoke of summer alive I have just posted new images that speak of warm weather fun and adventure to the website. I hope to post new winter images sometime around December.

Bike Magazine
July 22, 2008
Bike Magazine’s Photo Annual issue has recently hit the newsstands. This is one of my favorite magazines out there because of their commitment to quality imagery and to showcasing all the different elements that make up the ride. The images of mine they chose presents some of my more artsy/moody work.
Here is a blurb on what I look for when shooting mountain biking that went along with one of the images:
“Singletrack is the one element I can never get enough of; it is akin to fresh, deep powder in winter. The beauty of sweet singletrack is something that every mountain biker understands. I spend a good part of my summer searching for unique and fluid trails that hide quietly across alpine ridges or are tucked away in deep forests.
I’m always looking for lines and curves in a landscape that visually inspires me and would make me want to ride a section of trail again and again. A perfect line of singletrack that disappears into the distant horizon will always catch my eye. I try to include nature and the elements first and then place a rider within that context. And I am always drawn to those moody and obscure moments at exist somewhere along the ride.“
